Medusa is a contemporary story set partly with the troops in Iraq. It’s about an ordinary man who loses someone close and how he tries to find them. It’s about a journey and a haunting. How does a man survive the horror of war? When does it end? Corporal Elliot Ford is a soldier in Iraq. A brave man - he's seen things he'd rather forget. When he's told his daughter has gone missing, he returns home to search for her, but who is he really looking for? He is haunted by memories of a girl in Iraq. He uncovers clues about his own past. Everyone has a secret, everyone has another side to them. The Medusa was just a design on a medal, wasn't it? How could the Medusa harm him? Dare he face her to find out the truth? Elliot's next battle is for his own sanity - can he survive it? Chris Kent makes Medusa a stunning visual experience in black and white.
'Scottish Borders - based artist and writer Chris Kent has produced a strong piece of complex work for his debut comics project. Using collage, photo and painted art Medusa has a unique look for a haunting tale of loss and longing. Visually strong, the black and white art captures a humanity in this nightmarish tale. Medusa is never less than intriguing. We eagerly look forward to his further projects.' The List. January 2010
'Kent's art is pretty special. Medusa will repay several readings' The Skinny. December 2009
